The following items are being auctioned to the highest bidder on Saturday, May 16th, 2009 at the Sunol Shindig, a fundraising hootenanny to benefit the Sunol Glen School.

This auction is a presentation of the Sunol Glen Community Club to benefit the Sunol Glen School.  The club is a tax-exempt non-profit 501(c)3 corporation.  Tax ID number will be made available to the winning bidders.

Item A - Preschool - "Discovery" (acrylic on canvas)

Teacher:  Mrs. Erickson

Project Leader:  Heather Mattos (class parent)

Description:  Mrs. Megan's preschool students took turns painting earthy, jewel-toned patchwork squares on a 36" square canvas - each square with a letter spelling out this thoughtful quote:  "Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought."



Item B - Kindergarten - "Bird Bath"

Teacher:  Mrs. Rad

Project Leader:  Rain Martin (class parent)

Description:  Both of Mrs. Rad's kindergarten classes helped to decorate this concrete garden bird bath with glass baubles.



Item C - 1st Grade - "Dreams" (tattooed sofa table)

Teacher:  Mr. Imler

Project Leader:  Cammi Clark (class parent)

Description:  The first graders in Mr. Imler's class created patterns and drawings of their dreams.  These were transferred to a template and then burned into the top of this beautiful, solid wood sofa table which was then stained and painted.
Dimensions are 51" x 15" x 27"h.



Item D - 1 / 2 Combo - "Kids Do Kandinsky" (framed watercolors)

Teacher:  Ms. O'Neill

Project Leader:  Natalie Campbell (art teacher)

Description:  The students in Ms. O'Neill's 1st/2nd grade combo class studied the Russian artist, Wassily Kandinsky, in art class.  The class painted these concentric circles of while listening to classical music.



Item E - 2 / 3 Combo - "Night Sky" (framed oil pastels)

Teacher:  Mrs. Mayer

Project Leader:  Felicity Kelty, Framing:  Matthew Kelty (class parents)

Description:  Mrs. Mayer's 2nd/3rd grade class chose the theme, created these oil pastel drawings with white glue resist, and then the work was professionally framed.  Dimensions:  28 3/4" x 40 1/4".



Item F - 3rd Grade - "Pebble Beach: (mirror frame)

Teacher:  Ms. Cusenza

Project Leader:  Shatelle Freshwater-Vieira (class parent) and Danielle Freshwater (class aunt)

Description:  Glass and pebbles collected by Ms. Cusenza's 3rd grade students were assembled and grouted into a mirror frame.  Dimensions:  26 1/2" x 26 1/2".



Item G - 3rd Grade - "Abstract Blue Glass" (hand painted tile plant stand)

Teacher:  Ms. Cusenza

Project Leader:  Shatelle Freshwater-Vieira (class parent)

Description:  The 3rd grade class also hand painted small tiles which were set into a metal plant stand.  Dimensions:  19 3/8" diameter x 25 1/2" high.




Item H1 - 4th Grade - "Rainbow" (garden gazing ball and stand)

Teacher:  Mrs. Wiltz

Project Leader:  Mary Sanchez (class parent)

Description:  Mrs. Wiltz's 4th grade class glued glass baubles and broken pottery to a recycled bowling ball to create this whimsical gazing ball.



Item H2 - 4th Grade - "Green Dots" (garden gazing ball and stand)

Teacher:  Mrs. Wiltz

Project Leader:  Mary Sanchez (class parent)

Description:  Mrs. Wiltz's 4th grade class glued glass baubles and broken pottery to a recycled bowling ball to create this whimsical gazing ball.



Item I - 5th Grade - "Blue and Gold" (broken tile entry table)

Teacher:  Mr. Mumford

Project Leader:  Lisa Ball (class parent)

Description:  The students in Mr. Mumford's class created tiny collages inside flat glass marbles which were then inlaid on the top of a recycled metal table.  Dimentions:  16" x 32" x 29" high.



Item J - 6th Grade - "Sights of Sunol" (photo book)

Teacher:  Mr. Ferrera

Project Leader:  Patty Vicary, Janet Perry and Will Lipman (class parents)

Description:  Mr. Ferrara's 6th grade students went on photo expeditions around the town of Sunol and to the Sunol Regional Wilderness to shoot these unique views of our locale.  10" x 9" hardbound, 24 pages.



Item K - 7th Grade - "Sunol Glen" (mixed media on canvas)

Teacher:  Mrs. Takei

Project Leader:  Aristotle Vlacos (Sunol Glen School graduate)

Description:  The 7th grade students in Mrs. Takei's class voted on this image, then supplied background ephemera relating to their lives as students at Sunol Glen School.  They then all had a hand in painting the halftone image of our beloved tree in acrylic paint.  Dimensions:  24" x 30".



Item L - 8th Grade - "Initial Embossing" (tooled copper mirror frame)

Teacher:  Mrs. Jeffries

Project Leader:  Mrs. Jeffrie's husband, Johnnie Hamm

Description:  Mrs. Jeffries' 8th grade class has hand embossed individual squares of copper sheeting with sealife.  They are inset into the custom-built wood stained frame surrounding a 19" x 19" mirror. 



Item M - Arnold Cabin Vacation

Description:  Spend a week relaxing in this 3-bedroom, 1 1/2 bath cabin in the woods, just a 2 1/2 hour drive from Sunol!  With a well-equipped game room and deck with hot tub and BBQ grill, access to a golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool and more, this vacation home is 30 minutes from Bear Valley Ski Resort and the gold mining town of Murphys.  It sleeps up to 8 people and is available any time before September 30, 2009.  (Date to be mutually agreed upon.)  Includes cleaning fee and free use of the hot tub.
